Be broadband have announced that they have reduced the monthly price of their Value broadband package from £13.50 a month to just £7.50.
Along with this permanent price drop, Be have also scrapped the unlimited broadband aspect of their 8Mb broadband package in favour of a 40GB monthly allowance – although no traffic shaping will be implemented, meaning that users won’t see their speeds drop during peak times.
Tom Williams, head of operations at BE, said: “The trends we’re seeing are for no traffic management allowing more freedom and of course lower prices. Our members demand the freedom to prioritise and think for themselves, not have their broadband provider do it for them.
“We believe there are a lot of customers that will leap at the chance to get a service that doesn’t slow down based on the content of their downloads but don’t use the internet enough to justify an unlimited product.”
For any customers who are consistently using more than 40GB of download allowance each month, then Be’s Unlimited and Pro packages both feature unlimited downloads on their 24Mb broadband service albeit subject to a fair usage policy.
